Mission

Local government decisions, especially those about key issues such as economic development, zoning, planning, land use, schools, taxation, finances, public safety, public works, culture and recreation, substantially impact the quality of life of residents.

Recognizing the critical importance of decisions in key areas such as these, the mission of FACT is to:

  1. Endorse the proactive sharing of public information about such decisions;
  2. Support effective citizen engagement in local government decision-making to ensure a wide variety of views are represented and considered;
  3. Advocate for cohesive, proactive, long-term strategies in all key areas which are developed with the involvement of stakeholders and serve the public interest of residents;
  4. Promote accountability of decision-makers by encouraging informed citizen participation in local elections; and,
  5. Limit the influence of special interests in local government decisions that substantially impact the quality of life of residents.
